I was at Starbucks because of their wonderful air conditioning, and heard Sandie Shaw’s French version of the song she recorded in English, first made famous in the States by Dionne Warwick — “(There’s) Always Something There to Remind Me,” by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. I long thought of the song as a product of the New Wave, as I first encountered it as sung by Naked Eyes. Here is Eddy Mitchell, making a strong case for the French version. I love the confident sensitivity he has, down to the way he plants his feet on the ground. And, oh, those suits!
