Sunday Night Video – Saturday Night Live Takes on the Obama-Romney Debate

From Obama’s hems and haws to Romney’s robotic stare, SNL did a decent job yesterday. It’s not laugh-out-loud, but definitely amusing. They present a strong contrast between Obama’s excessive geniality and Romney’s machine-like falsehoods.

Tuesday Night Video – SNL Presents Eastwood and Chair

Parodies are usually less slick than the original. One of the things I like about Saturday Night Live’s take on Clint Eastwood’s bizarre turn at the Republican National Convention is that they kept the crazy, and just gave it slicker packaging and better timing.

Having watched Saturday Night Live last week in order to check out Lindsay Lohan’s state of being, I figured that I ‘d catch it again this past weekend to see how different it would be when hosted by Jonah Hill. The answer? Very different.

Lindsay Lohan on Saturday Night Live

Lindsay Lohan hosted Saturday Night Live this past weekend because Lorne Michaels works overtime to make the show relevant to the pop culture discussion, while Lohan needed a forum in which to show insurance companies that she can be relied upon to show up for her gigs and that she hasn’t sputtered out at the age of 25.

My thoughts were mixed as I saw Lohan step forward to make her monologue. Lindsay is such a subject of scrutiny that the liveness of the show felt like it mattered again. There’s Lindsay, it’s actually her!

Tim Tebow threw an 80-yard touchdown pass today on the first play in overtime against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In a tone fairly representative of the general media coverage, the Yahoo! headline is “Another Sunday Miracle.”
