Sunday Night Comedy – Tig Notaro on Conan

Was listening to a couple more episodes of Pete Holmes’ podcast You Made it Weird, and Tig Notaro came up during interviews with both Sarah Silverman and Doug Benson, who mentioned this set she did on Conan last December. I can tell why it appealed to a fellow comedian, because much of the bit is just her pushing a stool around the stage, in order to see if it will elicit audience laughter.

Podcast Moments: Neal Brennan on You Made It Weird

I’m grateful that Julio from NY alerted me to the existence of You Made It Weird, which is part of the Nerdist podcast empire. Pete Holmes is the host of You Made It Weird and, during his interview with Marc Maron, he admits to imitating WTF with Marc Maron, which remains my favorite podcast.

One You Made It Weird episode that really caught my ear was the interview with the Co-Creator of Chappelle’s Show, Neal Brennan. I definitely have a much better sense now of how Brennan thinks and operates, which includes some unfortunate bigotry.

TV in Review: Louie, “Pilot”

I started following Louis CK years ago on the recommendation of comedians who hold him in the highest regard. Despite agreeing with them, I haven’t been keeping up with his FX show, Louie. In part, it’s because there’s too much television to watch in far too little time. In part, it’s because Louie’s show is like Curb Your Enthusiasm without the lighter bits. Louie CK delivers high grade comedy, uncut, which means a lot of pain. As he says when reflecting upon what lessons divorce has taught him,

I know too much about life to have any optimism.
