I heard about this one from the Greg Proops’ podcast, The Smartest Man in the World. Here is Ray Charles on The Johnny Cash TV show in 1970, doing an extraordinary rendition of Cash’s “Ring of Fire.” As the man himself says at the end, Good God.

I’ve got nothing much to say about Nick Lowe’s appearance on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast (Episode 253) except to point out three of his songs that demonstrate his incredible range and talent. I’m a big fan of the well-written pop song, and Lowe manages to shine in a variety of styles.
1. I particularly love Lowe’s “Cruel to Be Kind” as I’m fond of art which combines the very pleasant (in this case, the tune) with the very dark (in this case, the lyrics).
