Thursday Night Video – Melissa Harris-Perry on Romney the Bully

Last weekend, Melissa Harris-Perry had a panel discussion about Mitt Romney’s past as a gay-basher (whether it was conscious or not). As usual, she frames it in a smart and revealing fashion, by noting how the Romney campaign itself has been trying to convince us that their candidate has a wild-and-crazy man inside. Some additional interesting points are made about how it’s Romney’s anti-gay policy that matter more than his personal feelings toward homosexuals, and how Romney’s “allergy” to taking principled stances may stem from his dad having taken principled stances and losing Republican party support due to that.

Monday Night Video – White House Pressed on Gay Marriage

I think it’s crucial for progressives to push President Obama from the left, which is why I’m glad that he’s getting some flack for not supporting gay marriage. ThinkProgress compiled some moments from today’s White House presser, about half of which dealt with same-sex marriage. Jay Carney is somewhat caught by surprise by my favorite question:

Is marriage a civil liberty?

The answer is obvious, so Carney has to dodge.

Rachel Maddow Exposes Inhofe

Did you see Rachel Maddow’s interview with Senator James Inhofe on Thursday? That’s the face of power in this country — 90% bluster from a man immune to the facts. Stern Bats Down Bachmann

Howard Stern reacted on Tuesday to Michele Bachmann’s admonition that we should open our hearts to the anti-gay bigotry exhibited those such as Kirk Cameron.

On Monday, Bachmann had told Piers Morgan…

I think it’s very important though that people who have sincerely held religious beliefs — I do — I think it’s important that we respect those people’s beliefs.

Michele Bachmann and Howard Stern Spar Over Ellen

Would you believe that Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O’Donnell are teaming up in praise of Howard Stern? Here’s Rosie on her show recently, describing why.

Howard Stern. A guy, who probably to me was my arch-nemesis for a decade at least, a guy who called me pumpkinhead and many other horrible things for over ten years. He and I have become friends and I have to say I love the guy. I was listening to his radio show, as I do daily and he was talking about what happened with Ellen DeGeneres, JC Penney, with me, with gay people in society and our culture who are so marginalized and so really prejudiced against by people in positions of power and how wrong it is and he was talking about that Rolling Stone article which you gotta pick up and you gotta get. Go to Twitter. I reposted what he said about ten times because I want people to hear it.
