Quote of the Day: Howard Stern Praises Rachel Maddow

I was watching MSNBC. That Rachel Maddow is fabulous. I mean, what a wealth of information she has! I guess they have writers on that show. Could she possibly know everything in the world about politics and government? I’d like to see her debate, like, Bill O’Reilly. Bill O’Reilly’s all crowing about debating Jon Stewart, who’s a comedian, who happens to be pretty knowledgeable himself, but I don’t think Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh or Bill O’Reilly would debate Rachel Maddow. She knows too much. She knows too much.

Healthcare Funnies

There was so much funny healthcare news this past week, I thought I might post of a whole series of healthcare poems, but most of the news turned out to be funnier in itself than anything I could say about it.

I did come up with one piece, based on Fox’s refusal to admit it had made a mistake by reporting that the individual mandate had been struck down.

Believe It

Our job is to share the news as we learn it. As we were hearing it, and as we were reading it, we let our viewers know about it.

Right Wing Hypocrisy Watch: O’Reilly & Krauthammer on Obama & Putin

On the June 19th edition of The O’Reilly Factor, Republican pundits Bill O’Reilly and Charles Krauthammer criticized President Obama for somehow playing too nice with Russian Czar President Vladimir Putin.

O’REILLY: Putin is a killer, but you can’t say that.

KRAUTHAMMER: Obama — but it’s the tone Obama takes, this conciliatory tone.

Quote of the Day: Howard Stern

I watch Bill O’Reilly’s show. You know, I love comedy shows as much as the next guy.

Best of the Week: The Colbert Report on Wall Street, Santorum, and more

MONDAY (March 12, 2012)

The guest on Monday was Katherine Boo, author of Behind the Beautiful Forevers: Life, death, and hope in a Mumbai undercity. I was struck by one of her comments, which points out how regressive our political culture is when we’re not even trying to get rid of poverty.

I come back here and I think “Oh, if we were really serious about fixing poverty, we could do it in like, half a second.”

White House Fail

Remember Shirley Sherrod? Remember when doctored video promoted by the late huckster Andrew Breitbart got her fired from her job at the Department of Agriculture? Well, emails revealed last week show the Obama Administration at its worst. They were in on the rush to judgment against Sherrod and they were cowering because they heard Bill O’Reilly had heard about her case.

This is a case in which both the politics and policy went wrong. The more the Obama Administration acts in reaction to professional blowhards such as O’Reilly, the more wrong decisions will be made, and the more criticism they’ll incur, as the Republican Fox News Network will be emboldened and progressives will be disappointed. This is, of course, on top of the horrible consequences on Sherrod herself, who was a good woman working for the greater good.

Saturday Night Videos – The Ed Show Takes On Rush Limbaugh

This week Rush Limbaugh went on record that women who have sex are sluts. It’s rare for him to backtrack on his bile, which is why his statement

I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.

is being misunderstood as an actually apology, rather than what it is, which is a weasel’s claim that style is what counts here, and not substance.
