Quote of the Day: Howard Stern on his Vote

I’m voting for Obama and I’ll tell you why. I’m sick and tired of the bullshit with this “the states will run everything.” This is the answer, “the states will run everything”! I see in Jersey, “we’ll just about have the state run everything” — thank God for the federal government, and thank God for the federal government here in New York. What will we do? There’s no money to sit there and fix the devastation that’s gone on. I mean, what is it? What are these guys, high?…

I’ve had it with this nonsense about “We don’t need the federal government. We don’t need regulations. We don’t need the federal government; the states will handle it.” The states? Where are the states going to get the kind of money to handle this? There’s going to be billions of dollars in repairs.

I’m exhausted from it. When is this election going to be over already?

Quote of the Day: Howard Stern Praises Rachel Maddow

I was watching MSNBC. That Rachel Maddow is fabulous. I mean, what a wealth of information she has! I guess they have writers on that show. Could she possibly know everything in the world about politics and government? I’d like to see her debate, like, Bill O’Reilly. Bill O’Reilly’s all crowing about debating Jon Stewart, who’s a comedian, who happens to be pretty knowledgeable himself, but I don’t think Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh or Bill O’Reilly would debate Rachel Maddow. She knows too much. She knows too much.

Quote of the Day: Howard Stern Gives Advice to Todd Akin

You got duped by some dude who told you he was a doctor and gave you advice that women can keep sperm away from themselves when they’re, you know, “legitimately raped.” You really think you should be making a judgment call on anything? You should question everything about yourself.

Roseanne on the Roseanne Roast

The Roseanne roast will be airing on Comedy Central this Sunday and the famed comedian called in to the Howard Stern Radio Show this morning for promotional purposes. I’m a huge Roseanne fan on many levels. She’s a terrifically talented woman who spearheaded one of the funniest and most important sitcoms of all time. She’s also tremendously brave, repeatedly willing to risk reputation for the sake of telling her truths. I like to think that her desire to endure the flames of a  roast reflects in part her love for the roughhouse of stand-up comedy.

Quote of the Day: Howard Stern on Responding to the Aurora Horror

The real story is, the President of the United States and Mitt Romney — the two guys running to be President in 2012, they’re running currently — both of them are so fucking pussy-whipped by the NRA, the National Rifle Association, they’re such fucking cowards, the two of them, that neither one of them are willing to get up there and say we need a full ban on assault weapons.

Sacha Baron Cohen visits Howard Stern as Himself

Sacha Baron Cohen very rarely gives interviews as himself, which is one reason why his appearance on Howard Stern’s radio show yesterday interested me greatly. Cohen is, after all, someone who makes his comedy out of highly original, boundary-breaking characters. It is obvious that there is a very sharp intelligence in action behind the satire of Ali G and Borat, and that this intelligence is not the typical work of just another smart comedian. Yesterday’s interview just scratched the surface, but hit on enough different topics to make it worthwhile.

Summing It All Up: Howard Stern On Why Not to Vote For Mitt Romney

On today’s edition of “Summing It All Up,” Howard Stern explains why he’s not voting for Mitt Romney…

HOWARD STERN: I made a decision. There’s no way I’m voting for Mitt Romney.

ROBIN QUIVERS: Why is that?

STERN: Because he’s such a douche.

Susan Olsen on Child Stardom

I was watching an old 1995 interview of Susan Olsen (Cindy Brady of The Brady Bunch fame) and she had an insight into child stardom that hadn’t occurred to me, that for some it might be easier to be younger.

OLSEN: People say “It must have been so strange for you. You were so young and to go through all this fame.” I said I’m glad that I was that young because it would have been a lot worse to go through puberty and be formulating your thoughts about yourself and have such a strange life. I found it’d maybe warp you a little.

Of course, that presumes that one is famous very young and then it stops. For someone who gets famous very young and then it continues as they’re a teenager, all bets are off.

John Cusack on Due Process

Yes, John Cusack. He was on the Howard Stern Show last week (on Wednesday 4/18) and besides talking about his film career and dodging questions about women he’s dated, he and Howard wound up talking about politics. On all the subjects, Cusack came across as a down-to-earth and sensible kind of fellow.
