Republicans dealing with the fallout from Senate candidate Todd Akin’s ridiculous claims about rape victims continue to give us insights into their thinking about rape. Here’s the contribution of Rep. Steve King, who is becoming a frequent Polentical topic.
The Buddy System
[Rep. Steve] King [wants to] ban Federal funding of abortions… for victims of statutory rape or incest–for example, a 12 year old who gets pregnant. Congressman King says he’s not aware of any young victims like that. “Well I just haven’t heard of that being a circumstance that’s been brought to me in any personal way(.)”

Matthew beat me to this one–twice–and my contribution probably doesn’t add anything, but I can’t let this quote pass without taking a whack at it.

From what I understand from doctors, (pregnancy from rape) is really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.

They have “ways” that for men

And let’s cheer for a congressman who

Doggone!
If there is a sexual predator out there who has impregnated a young girl… that sexual predator can pick that girl up off the playground at the middle school and haul her across the state line and force her to get an abortion to eradicate the evidence of his crime and bring her back and drop her off at the swing set and that’s not against the law in the United States of America.
