About

Polentical is made by mixing politics with entertainment, and occasionally adding personal details for spice.

Matthew is a doctor (not like that) who currently resides in Silicon Valley. He cares about politics, but also enjoys tabloid talk. So what’s a boy to do?

Todd has worked as a stage manager, a college instructor, and Daffy Duck. He shares a lot of Matthew’s politics, but doesn’t get the Garfield without Garfield thing.

Max doesn’t miss President Bush, but he misses Bushisms.

“Progressive politics and regressive entertainment” – amusing idea for a blog. Thanks for the like, and for reading my old blog posts!

  3. M.K. Hajdin says:

Why, thank you. That’s nice to know.

  4. Thanks for liking one of my posts. It got me here and now I’m a new follower myself :)

I second Julio’s comment. Thanks for liking my Tolkien post. I’ve only read a few of the posts here so far but I already know I’ve found another guilty pleasure.

Look at me, finding interesting bloggers like you! One of the things I like about literate sites such as yours is that they show how new technology can be used to keep talking about books.

Thanks for liking my story. Love your choice in avatar, I’m reading Richard Mason’s latest book right now. Looking forward to following your blog.

    • Matthew says:

You’re welcome, and it’s good to see you over here! You know, I didn’t actually realize that Mason used that for his cover. I just knew that I like Magritte. Great minds, and all that…

Always delighted to be visited by someone new, especially anyone who embraces snark and cynicism – sometimes the only proper reaction to this bad dream we live in.

This is my new favorite site. Thanks for the entertainment commentary as well as the beautiful photos. Living on the east coast (Asbury Park, NJ), I appreciate seeing personal photos of architecture, landscapes, etc. from the west. All photos i would stop to capture if i was there. WHat about photos of you all, the writers? Cheers!

    • Matthew says:

Thank you for the high praise! I may come out (so to speak) and grace everyone with a photo of myself someday, but it may actually be kinder for me to refrain. :)

I continue to be amazed by this thing called blogging, and the realization that sometimes people hear me when I dare to think out loud. Thanks for the playback.

    • Matthew says:

Not only do you dare think out loud, but you do it with sharp humor and sharp insight! It’s a great combination, and thanks for stopping by.

      • xmatman says:

Thanks ~ I’ll be back of course. Btw, you look awfully familiar! Could I have seen you somewhere before… perhaps somewhere on the streets of Manhattan? :-D

You recently sent me a “bounce” message.

    How do you do that?

    LEW

    • Matthew says:

Hi Lew! Was it a “pingback” notice that I had linked to one of your posts? I might have linked to you if I felt you wrote something interesting and relevant to one of my posts, in which case WordPress automatically generates the note to you.

  14. Happy Friday! I wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the ABC Award! Visit my post to find out what that’s about:

Keep on posting and have a great weekend! – Chris (a.k.a. DoubleyooTeeEff)

    • Matthew says:

I’ve already said thanks on your own seriously awesome site, but thanks again, Chris! It’s an award that really applies to your own work, and I really enjoy reading your writing, and having you visit over here. Have a wonderful weekend yourself!

Am intrigued by the concept of your blog. I agree, the two are not mutually exclusive- and in their absurdity, can sometimes seem very complementary. Look forward to following your thoughts.

  16. Great blog, Matthew! I was delighted to see that you liked my post “‘Mad Men’ Unfulfilled–Again” and even more delighted to read your political commentary. I definitely look forward to more in the days ahead.
