Tone Deaf
Our demographics are changing and we have to change not necessarily our core beliefs, but how we — the tone of our message and the message and the intensity of it, for sure.
“Well, our tone has impaired us immensely.
We’ll do fine if we phrase things less densely.
. All the poor will shrug, ‘So?’
. As their voting rights go;
. And they’ll let us deny
. Any change to cli-
. Mate; the middle-class will
. Gladly shoulder the bill
. As we rapidly switch
. Tax to them from the rich;
. And raped ladies won’t mind
. Bearing kids,” Jeb opined,
“If we speak of these things less intensely.”

True story, the Jebster (and his son, George III), lived near me in the suburbs of Miami. Their doorbell sound was that of a machine gun. Bush humor.. I guess.
So did you ring his doorbell?
Friend did.. don’t remember why. I think it was selling cookies through school or something. I went to Kindergarten with George III.
Was the joke that it was loud enough to startle visitors, maybe even make them think they were being shot at? I can’t imagine that the Bushies were self-aware enough for it to be a parody of their image. (But I do think the gunfire doorbell might be funny.)
No I don’t think it was to make people think they were beig shot at. Just right-wing humor. (if that’s a thing)
He is most certainly his father’s son – be a disastrous Republican but not loudly seemed to be Bush I’s tendency.
