Romney Spokesman Explains Gaffe

The Chic Sikh’s Sheep

We had a moment of silence in honor of the people who lost their lives at that sheik temple. … The sheik people are among the most peaceable and loving individuals you can imagine.

Mitt Romney, about the Sikh temple shooting

Rick Gorka, a spokesman for Romney, later clarified that the candidate “misspoke” adding that it was the “end of the day.”

Emily Friedman, ABC News

(to the tune of “At the End of the Day” from Les Mis)

At the end of the day how can someone distinguish
Between similar folks like a Sikh and a sheik?
As the twilight starts to fall
People’s thoughts often start to grow jumbled,
And a candidate’s words can become rather oblique.
And it isn’t too easy.

At the end of the day don’t take phone calls from Putin,
Or, in fact, speak a sentence where anyone hears,
‘Cause the press just wants to knock
And you don’t want to sound like you’re boozing,
And Iran sounds like Iraq,
And it all can be very confusing.
It’s so hard to know what to say
At the end of the day!
