Thursday Night Video – Cenk Uygur on Money in Politics

Cenk Uygur makes his case for why we need a constitutional amendment against money in politics, and a large part of it is his feeling that many Democrats are paid to lose. Whether or not you think that’s happening, it’s certainly the case that Democrats frequently choose not to be populist and therefore give up their most popular issues. It was infuriating in 2010 to watch the Democrats cede populism to the Tea Party. The Obama campaign turns to populism during election years, so maybe the Democrats will do better this year. And I hope that the Obama administration doesn’t let go of the populism once the election is won and done.

I like Cenk. He at least sounds like he knows what he’s talking about and his facts check out.I hope that Obama at least can give up kissing the GOP’s ass if he’s elected. He should have it in the bag but China’s got a lot of money to funnel through those casinos of Adelson’s and they have Diebold voting machines to fall back on.

Oh boy, I would love love love for Democrats to run ads about the Republicans blocking campaign disclosure legislation, and how this is potentially letting in foreign money to influence our elections! Republicans have spent so much time building up suspicion of foreigners, so it could be effective to turn it against them, and on an issue that truly matters.
