Scott Brown: A Royal Flop
June 23, 2012 5 Comments
Sen. Scott Brown has been ridiculed for claiming to have met with royalty, and, yes, that’s funny, but even less senatorial is the complete lack of specificity in what he said. When someone accuses you of not getting serious work done, isn’t the most effective rebuttal to point to, I don’t know… an accomplishment? Shouldn’t someone who’s been working on serious issues be able to name one?
Each and every day that I’ve been a United States senator, I’ve been discussing issues, meeting on issues, in secret meetings and with kings and queens and prime ministers and business leaders and military leaders, talking, voting, working on issues every single day.
–Sen. Scott Brown on radio’s Jim Braude and Margery Eagan Show
“I’ve been meeting with queens and with kings
Every day on the job, pulling strings.
As a senator, I’m
Working hard all the time
On big issues and… issues and… things.”
Big back room plots and campaigns conspiring against us serfs I suppose
The “secret meetings” make it sound like that. It’s hard to count the ways the statement is a bizarre, inappropriate description of a U.S. senator’s work.
When asked what magazines and newspapers he reads every day to keep up with current news and events he replied, “all of them”.
It *is* a Palinesque comment, isn’t it?
LOL
Yes, yes it *is*.
