Words of Wisdom: Balloon Juice Debunks the Need for a New Centrist Party

Reacting to the news that the Americans Elect third party effort is floundering, Balloon Juice not only debunks the need, but does it in nineteen words.

There is already a centrist party. It’s called the Democrats. What this country is missing is a left wing.

I only want to add that the fact that the U.S. media does not understand this is further reflection of the scarcity of progressive political voices in the mainstream media dialogue.

  1. That’s what shows like Democracy now and others on the internet are for :)

    • Matthew says:

I want my own activist Lefty television network!

      • If only.. MSNBC is the closest we have for the moment. Unfortunately the networks are owned by corporations and having a network that is leftist goes against their interests. That’s why we have to settle for podcasts and youtube channels for the moment.

        • Matthew says:

At least podcasts and YouTube are more than we had when I was growing up. Plus, even if it’s not an activist network like Fox, MSNBC does have a few activist lefties, with Maddow being my definite favorite.

          • Definitely. I became a fan of hers when I found out about her on Air America. And I only started listening to that station because I found out that Marc Maron had a morning show there. I listened in too late and the next show was Maddow and a fan I became :)
