TV in Review: Modern Family, “Disneyland”

I’m on the road this week, so my reactions to this week’s Modern Family will be briefer than usual. I got to watch it with my sister and niece, though, so my enjoyment was deeper than usual, even though I didn’t think it was “A” material all the way through.

For one, Manny (he’s my favorite!) did not produce the same delight in me per usual. I found the stock market obsession boorish and boring. Yeah, I guess it’s riches and wealth he craves, but I find it funnier when it’s specific items in which he has an interest, like hotel massages or aged port. (Okay, I made that second one up, but my memory is too lazy to conjure up a second example at the moment.)
Gloria’s shoe travails — from high high high to soft and pink — were somewhat amusing.

The same with Lily on a leash.

But my two favorites were…
Phil getting sick on the rides!

CLAIRE: You okay?
PHIL: Great. Why wouldn’t I be?
CLAIRE: ’cause you’re kinda leaning on me.
PHIL: Well, isn’t that what a marriage is?

And Dylan. I have never loved him more than here…

…except maybe for here…

DYLAN: It’s me, Dylan. I’m in the bear suit. I borrowed it to talk to you.
HALEY: Why are you dancing like that?
DYLAN: This is what Little John does. Maybe. I don’t know what movie this dude is from.

ABC first broadcast Season 3, Episode 22 of Modern Family on May 9, 2012.
