Doonesbury on State Rape

Yesterday’s Doonesbury comic provides terrifically insightful and incisive take on Rick Perry’s support for big government determining the private health care decisions for Texans. It looks like it’ll be a week-long topic, as the fun continues in today strip.
Cartoonist Gary Trudeau has come under attack for pointing out that the forced procedures promoted by Texas Governor Rick Perry constitute state rape. Trudeau told the Guardian that it’s part of a larger attack on women’s health.
The legislature has also defunded women’s health clinics all over the state, leaving 300,000 women without the contraceptive services that prevent abortions in the first place. Insanity.
Once again, I think it would behoove Democrats to appropriate the rhetoric of the Right, and rightly point out that these big government attack against health clinics are pro-abortion moves.
