Jesus Not That Good At Sports

Tim Tebow threw an 80-yard touchdown pass today on the first play in overtime against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In a tone fairly representative of the general media coverage, the Yahoo! headline is “Another Sunday Miracle.”
I totally buy the implication that God plays sports and is on Tebow’s team. What I don’t quite get is why God requires overtime in order to win 29-23 against the Steelers. Has the brutal schedule of the NFL worn him down? Is he flustered by the higher level of competition in the playoffs?
God had better bust his ass in practice this week if he wants to beat the New England Patriots on Saturday.

Great post!

And the Patriots proved that Jesus was actually lousy at kicking field goals!
That’s not fair. I thought Jesus played at tight end?
No, he’s clearly part of the special team.
Ha! You’re absolutely right. God is clearly on your side.
There was a cartoon in the New Yorker recently in which the post-game interview started with the losing team captain saying something like, “First of all, I’d like to thank God for helping us to loose today…”
This is hysterical.
