Bill Burr on the Moth

The Moth is a live story-telling series which provides one of the podcasts on my long list, which are the podcasts that I download but sometimes don’t get around to hearing. The most touching moments are those which are both gripping and open, with the story-teller allowing the audience in and the audience displaying its support in laughter and applause. It’s a very different performer-audience relationship from the more antagonistic one found in most stand-up comedy, which is one reason why I enjoy hearing stand-up comedians such as Bill Burr open themselves up to a different style of emotional exposure.
You might know Burr from Chappelle’s Show, although he tended to play smaller roles, such as one of the announcers on the racial draft.
And here’s Bill Burr on The Moth, in a reflective story for the New Year:
My dream is to be on the moth.
You should make that dream a reality! They even have a place for you to pitch them a story. Unfortunately for me, I’m not a very good storyteller.
